Vesak 2022

It is with great pleasure that we announce the arrangements for this year’s Vesak Celebrations in person at the Vihara premises after a long period of time due to the restrictions of the Covid-19 pandemic. I am sure that we all are equally excited and eagerly looking forward to this opportunity.

The programs for Saturday, the 21st May, 2022 and Sunday, the 22nd May, 2022 are as follows.

Program for Saturday, 21st, May 2022

5.00 - 5.20 pm - Pahan Puja (Only for sponsors)

5.20 - 5.30 pm - Gilanpasa Puja

5.30 - 5.40 pm - Lighting of the Oil Lamp

5.45 - 6.30 pm - Devotional Songs ( Vesak Bhakthi Gee)

6.30 - 7.30 pm - Refreshment Interval

7.30 - 7.35 pm - Invitation for Pirith

7.35 - 8.00 pm - Dhamma Sermon on Significance of Vesak

8.00 - 11.00 pm - Pirith Chanting ( Maha Piritha,  Dhammachakkappawaththana Suthra and Aatanatiya )

11.00 - 11.30 pm - Distribution of Holly Thread and Holly Water

11.30 pm - End of the Program

Program for Sunday 22nd, May 2022

10.30 - 11.40 am - Vesak Puja

11.40 am - 12.00 pm - Daana for monks

12.00 - 1.00 pm - Vesak Dansala for participants

1.00 - 3.00 pm - Annual General Meeting

As done in the past, devotees are invited to sponsor one or more Pahan for offering to Budhha on this Vesak day. A donation of a minimum of $10/- per Pahan is expected and Tamara Kiriwaththuduwa has voluntarily taken the responsibility of organizing this. Please contact Tamara on (778) 668-8203 to reserve your Pahan.

Refreshments on Saturday (21st) and  Dana for monks and Dansala (lunch) for Devotees on Sunday (22nd)  organized by Athula and Dinusha Thilakaratne. Once again, the items for refreshments and Dawal Dana will be offered by volunteers. The list of items for both days is attached herewith for your reference and kind attention.

There will be four venerable monks participating in the Pirith Chanting on Saturday, 21st and for Dawal Dana on Sunday, the 22nd.

We kindly request your voluntary contribution to prepare and clean up the Vihara premises after the event on both days and kindly contact Thusitha Madawanarachchi if you would like to help us by volunteering during the event.

We would like to remind you as we are expecting many participants on both days, we kindly remind you to wear face masks while in the shrine hall.
